Pianist, Keyboarder und Komponist. Jazzstudium in Bern von 1982-88. Von 1989 bis 1993 Dozent an der Musikhochschule und an der Jazz & Rock Schule Freiburg i.B.. Seit 1991 Dozent an verschiedenen Abteilungen der HKB. Spielte in zahlreichen Formationen und Projekten der Schweizer Jazz- und Pop Szene. Komponierte Theatermusik in Warschau, Stockholm und Bern. 2001 Aufbau des Studiengangs Musik und Medienkunst. 2003-2021 Leiter des MAS Pop & Rock an der HKB Bern. Zahlreiche veröffentlichte CD`s mit Eigenkompositionen. Performance-Projekte an der Biennale Bern. Mehrere Lehrbücher für Piano und Keyboard.

2016 schloss er seine Promotion unter dem Titel «Kultsounds. Untersuchung zur Entstehung, Praxis und Wirkung dominierender Einzelklänge in Populärer Musik von 1960–2014» ab. Darin enthalten sind zahlreiche Interviews mit namhaften Künstlern wie Flake Lorenz (Rammstein), AndYpsilon (Die Fantastischen 4) Roger Linn, Irmin Schmidt (Can) oder Boris Blank (Yello). Zum Thema Kultsounds  sind  einige Radiosendungen (DLF, WDR, BR, SRF) erschienen. Aktuelle Produktionen sind u.a. eine Klanginstallation am Pop ‘n’ Rockmuseum in Gronau (D). Immanuel Brockhaus lebt in Berlin.

In 2016 he completed his doctorate under the title "Kultsounds. Investigation into the emergence, practice and effect of dominant individual sounds in Popular Music from 1960-2014". This includes numerous interviews with renowned artists such as Flake Lorenz (Rammstein), AndYpsilon (Die Fantastischen 4) Roger Linn, Irmin Schmidt (Can) and Boris Blank (Yello). Some radio broadcasts (DLF, WDR, BR, SRF) have been published on the subject of cult sounds. Current productions include a sound installation at the Pop 'n' Rockmuseum in Gronau (D). Immanuel Brockhaus lives in Berlin.
